A newby question

Are you looking at a L2 Ticker? Because that would mean the ask or bid size of the MM for that stock.

Man I really feel like a moron. First off what's an L2 ticker and what is the " ask or bid size of the MM for that stock"? What I'm asking looks like this (ask .05 x5000). This does not show up when I look at my real time ticker but it does when I look at a yahoo or similiar ticker.

That is the "best ask" of the Market Maker. To make it simple, you dont have to worry about that, just put in your order for as many shares as you want. A Level 2 quote is one that shows all the orders from the Market Makers.

thanx for the help I know your probably shacking your head right now saying to yourself "man this guy is going to lose soooo much money" but I'm trying to do as much research as possible before I make my first buy to keep the risk to a minimum. Thanks again and I'm sure I'll have more questions to come. :D

Definteley, you should not feel intimidated here at all! After all, we were all in your position at once and all lost money on our first few trades, but you learn from mistakes. Also, it is very wise to do a lot of research and to ask around before you buy your first stock. You are buying a piece of a business, so you want to buy a business that is profitable, and has a good structure. Ask away and good luck!
