new stock that is in acquisition mode

I keep getting spam emails about that one, I'm not gonna do it though, I'm staying with the boring blue chips.

In a word: NO! Believe me Chahine, there are no bargains at .19 cents. The chance of this one recoverying is near zero. Save your money on this one.

Everyone who starts investing in stocks goes through the same thing. They first hear about penny stocks, and since they don't have much money, they figure: these are cheap I can get rich. I did the same thing. I bought XOXO and EXDS for around $1 per share. I bought as many as could! I was sure those were great stocks. One was a phone company and the other one was the hosting company who hosted Yahoo. I figured they couldn't fail. I was wrong. Both went into bankruptcy and I still held the shares like an idiot til they wen to zero. This happens to almost every new investor. But I haven't stopped looking for cheap stocks and when a real opportunity comes along, I will still buy them.

As my colleague Mr Sokol explained, you want to make sure these companies have earnings. Without earnings or a chance at rapidly improved earnings, extremely low priced stocks usually don't recover. If the company doesn't have any earnings, check to see how explosive the sales growth is. If it isn't high, skip the stock. Rumors of acquisitions, etc, aren't enough.

Sort of intersting to me because of the Bush trade tariffs for steel. Their earnings are to be announced on 10/24/2003. Might be a good idea to see if they have a webcast of the conference and listen in.

[quote:66e698bf48="HappyHarry"]That was today! Anyone check the results?[/quote:66e698bf48] i actually didn't have the time but read the news after to see and they have massive loss on it this quarter and they are going to go through restructuring to my inexperienced opinion i would say that this stock is to be kept at eye sight. the reason i think that is because as they are going to go through restructuring their stock price is going to fall till next quarter. and if they fall low enough and if they generate the required or mentioned revenu they could make a big come back http://biz.yahoo.com/rm/031024/cn_1.html chahine

Definitely a good call, Chahine. A stock like this losing money like this will definitely go lower before it takes off for the Moon. That's always the trouble with money-losing companies: news usually gets worse before it gets better.
