True enough. Of course people are going to want to blame a company/ department/ someone for deaths. It is the way of the world. As HH stated, many of the people that get tasered get it for a reason. Not listening to the orders of officers mostly. It isn't shocking (no pun intended) that they taser them to get them to "fall in line". In many crimes drugs and alcohol are involved and the levels of these substances have more to do with heart failure then the shock. And I'm sure for that the arresting officers involved, it is better than beating them with a billyclub or shooting them (and the inevitable lawsuits that follow.. I was just reading that a guy in Cali sued the PD for 25 million for getting beat by about 6 officers. A taser would have disabled him and let them arrest him w/o the extra baggage)
It's definitely this concern which is killing the stock price. Maybe they should just market it as "less-lethal".
TASR reported earnings yesterday. From that I think the stock price has gotten ahead of earnings and sales. It's stock price is just too rich for its fundamentals.
The growth rate is incredible though. Right now, 5,400 police departments are testing Tasers. Seems to me that if good percentage of those place orders, you're looking at a huge increase in revenues. Plus their profit margin is high.
