Apollo Group (APOL)

Well 15 shares won't help you retire but at least it will make you feel like you're part of their success!

Hey, it's a start! Good work!

they realeased some good news last week.. i'm hoping for a split maybe? (i've waited for a split on any of my stocks.. hasn't happened yet) i'm also hoping to get together enough money to buy some more.. :) with a little scramble, there is still money to be had! :!:

looks like you have some gains today, Hathor.

I do, I do! My whole portfolio (which isn't that big) is up 12.46% as of this moment.. 16.07% on Chicos. 2.53% on Apollo. I need to get some more money into the stock market!!

PFCB is the latest addition to my portfolio. A whole 15. :) I guess 15 is better than none anyways..

15 shares can make a big difference. Imagine if you had 15 shares in Berkshire Hathaway?

then i would have at least a milliondollars! that would be awesome!

You can always add more later. Average up.

This one has reached a 52 week high. As unemployment continues, I think "online education" is a big thing. Lets see what happens with this one. You could have made some incredible money if you had bought in back in 8/2001. But you know what they say: "hindsight is 20/20"

I bought some APOL 1 year ago, but I've sold them. I think Apol is overvalued, it has a P/E=50. I know its strong EPS growth, but 50 is very high.

Have to consider the forward P/E too. Their Growth rate is enormous.

PE is 53.. and I'm not disagreeing on the price, either.. This one hasn't saw a split since April 22, 2002. and it was at about 40.00 a share. If they split this one out, it will lower the price to attract some new investors. Online education is another venue for people to continue their education, and more convienent to boot. Did you make anything on the shares you traded?

It's nearing a 52 week high. I've never met anyone that has got a degree online, but it's making nice in my portfolio..

Believe it or not I knew some woman who was getting her degree from the University of Phoenix Online. They also have 100 or more offline campuses and that's where the money is. They franchise the school. This company is a phenomenal wealth generator.

:?: I wonder how many people attend campus versus online only? :?:

Yes, I know the growth is very high (42% stable EPS growth), but this is the reason because I think it's difficult it'll continue at the same level. And what's going to happen when growth is 35%, 30%, 25% and so on (all are high growth rate9. I think I'm going to wait for a price reduction before re-enter in this stock.

The danger with all these high growth stocks is always that the earnings may dip. As soon as they do, the company will get hammered. If you already took profits in Apollo then $77 probably looks real high. If institutional buying dips then all these stocks are in danger of topping over. But I'm not sure it will dry up. People who need to retire can't keep their money in a mattress of in low yield savings or bonds. The stock market has to rebound and stocks like Apollo may lead the market.
