Harrah's Entertainment (HET) Stock

Yes, for sure. Gambling is the second best thing for striking it rich! Winning big on the Stock Market the first!

The Gambling stocks are tricky. Be careful!

gaming and gambling is big business. it also seems like casinos are opening in just about every state. it translates into big business. big money and profits!

If you're going to dabble in gaming stocks, why not go with Mandalay Resorts (MBG)? They have some of the best properties in Vegas, like the Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Circus Circus, and Excalibur. They also have properties outside of Vegas which do quite well.

Mandalay Bay looks incredible. I heard that they have a giant fishtank with all kinds of cool creatures from the sea. ( Gotta love the travel channel ) The pool looked pretty impressive also.. :D I want to go there someday..... forgot my sig.

I got married in Las Vegas in June. I stayed at the Luxor. Loved it! I was extremely impressed with all of the Mandalay Bay properties. They are printing cash! I would love the revenue from the all you can eat buffets alone! I'm going to be staying at the Mandalay Bay in February. The pool is incredible! I'm researching this one too. To me they appear to be a superior operator.

I'm hitchin' a ride with Hypester.. Hope the wife don't mind!! :D btw.. congrats to you! hope you are happy!!

What do you guys think of MGM/Mirage stock? They own the biggest and most hotels in Vegas, such as the MGM, Mirage, Treasure Island (soon to be just the TI), Bellagio, Golden Nugget, New York New York, all 3 hotels at the Cali-Nev Stateline in the city of Primm and some other hotels outside of Vegas.

MGG is a pretty sweet company, IMHO. I like the exploding sales figures in partiicular. From '99 to '02 they quadrupled sales! That is the type of stock that can make you some serious money. If you believe that gaming in Las Vegas is still a thriving business with plenty of room to grow then this stock looks like a pretty good "bet" :)

mirage may be in trouble after poor roy got attacked. this was in yahoo news this morning.. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20031007/ap_on_re_us/tiger_attack_magician_56 i hope that roy is able to recover fully from this..

i read that roy getting mauled is going to cost the MGM Mirage .05-.10 cents per share in annual profit, so that is definitely going to be somewhat of a setback.

Something like that happening must have never been priced into their stock. One of those things that has never happened before can cost a company big time. I haven't yet checked their trading range.. I'll have to go do that and see if the price has tumbled..

Tiger maulings just can't be good for any stock!

Here in Vegas I know that when anyone thinks of the Mirage they think of S&R and those white tigers. They are advertised all over town and the S&R Show is the #1 show in Vegas, the most expensive at $100+ per ticket and always sold out. That is not good for the Mirage but I think seeing as MGM/Mirage is so big it might be a good idea to pick up some stock once it drops, they have so many properties here that the S&R show won't be that big of a loss. MGM/Mirage owns 1. MGM (largest hotel/casino in the world) 2. Mirage 3. Bellagio (rated one of the 10 best hotels in the world) 4. TI (formally Treasure Island) 5. Golden Nugget (downtown) 6. New York-New York I am the moderator of the Nevada section of AR15.com, I posted alot of info for anyone wanting to visit Las Vegas, Wolfpack is my name there. I agree. If the stock dips heavily on the news it would probably be worth getting some shares. Surely the clever money makers at the corporation will turn a negative into a positive and come up with other entertainment to fill the void. It only closed down .06 cents a share today. Worth keeping an eye on.

The show has been cancelled, for good. I wonder what they will come up with to replace it?

Nice info on your site, bobjitsu! That will come in handy one of these days!! When I get myself out west.. :) I was reading about helicopter rides over the grand canyon.. have you ever done that? It sound like it would be spectacular!!

I have never taken a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon but I have been wanting to. A helicopter crash a few weeks ago over there has slowed me down a little till they find out what happened. If you have never seen the Grand Canyon you absolutley have to, it is unbelieveable!! You cannot look at something like that in a picture or a poster and fully understand it's true size. I drove to the South Rim a few years back and have been wanting to go again ever since. If you do drive instead of taking a copter do it in winter, the crowds are much less, it's NOT as hot as hell and you can drive your own car, in summer you have to park and take a shuttle. Bob

thanks for the tips! maybe taking a helicopter isn't such a great idea after all. were there any survivors?

Nobody survived, most were tourists from overseas. The helicopter tours are of the "west" rim, the south rim is the most visited and the north is beautiful but only open in the summer due to snow in the winter. The south rim is the one 99% of people who have been to the Grand Canyon have seen.

Finding out about those deaths definitely just turned me off to the idea of a helicopter ride through the Grand Canyon. Maybe a donkey ride is more my speed anyway :)

I told my wife I'd like to pay for her to go to the bottom that way, she didn't think it was too funny. I've also told her I'd like to have her try skydiving and bungee jumping.
