What’s a “stock market”?

[quote="losboogie"] 1. How do you find out what a company’s trading symbol is? 2. Once you know the trading symbol what do you do with it (where do you go to buy in the company)? 3. Are there any lists of publicly traded companies, which categorize them by industry? 4. What are penny stocks and how do they differ from other stocks? 1. On any of the big stock market websites there should be a place where you can search for ticker symbols. Big sites being stuff like www.fool.com, www.quicken.com, MSN money... 2. You buy the stock via a broker. This broker can either be online or in person. Generally online brokerage is cheaper than in person. Some of these online brokerage firms are www.sharebuilder.org and www.ameritrade.com. 3. You can generally find lists of the biggest publicly traded companies on those big sites I mentioned before. 4. Penny stocks are cheap stocks.... different people consider penny stocks to be at a different price but its generally about 3 bucks and down. Penny stocks are alluring because you can buy so many, but keep in mind there is a reason that they are so cheap. Feel free to ask any more questions and welcome to the family

I've been to all those sites... One of my favorites is fool.com, even so will all that information I was still in need of: as you might have also experienced, not only information but some kind of guidance. I found a site: http://www.stockdr.com. This site has a kind of really affordable membership where I go to get guidance as far as: - what stocks would be good to buy or sell - not only what but why, I have learned so much through this Gold Club - they also have a really advanced chart system Check it out. HOefully it helps you as muhc as it helped me

Instead of paying ourselves... why dont you just give us a sample stock that they said to buy to see how well it does.
