Can Sears make a comeback?

They are a pretty moribund operation. The Sears near my home is old and not maintained that well. The employees seem to stand around and there is hardly anyone in the store ever. Judging on that little bit of evidence, the chain appears to be a bit of a laggard. Who do you know that has contacted you recently all excited about something at Sears? Probably no one. I think S already had it's big run up.

i do agree with happyharry on this and also their style seems not as followed as much i guess but i have the feeling that i would make less purchasing in sears clothing line than i would in oldnavy (hmmm another i need to look into) or gap. in my humble opinion not too bright future. chahine

This is the news from yesterday.. MEMPHIS, Tenn., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- TBC Corporation (Nasdaq: TBCC - News), one of the nation's largest marketers of automotive replacement tires, today announced that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of National Tire & Battery ("NTB") from Sears, Roebuck and Co. (NYSE: S - News). Through 225 retail tire and automotive centers in 20 states, NTB currently generates annual revenues in excess of $425 million Maybe they are trying to sell off Sears one division at a time for big money?

interesting!!!! :!: :!: :!: chahine

Selling it off division by division? I can't say that I've ever heard of that one happening before.. About the only thing I like about Sears is that they carry Land's End clothes. That would be about it. Not very deep, is it??

Selling of division by diviosion isn't that when the company is broken down and liquified? Did CNET do a hostile takeover on MP3.com?
