Well, I can see the construction of the new Wynn Las Vegas towers, Steve Wynn is a Las Vegas genius. He is the one who put a pirate battle (now gone) in front of the Treasure Island, the volcano in front of the Mirage and the "dancing water fountains" in front of the Bellagio. They are all pretty cheap gimicks that attract thousands of people a day to see, then guess where they go to cool off...right into his casino. The las Vegas megaresorts are huge and going from one property to another usually takes 15-30 minutes by foot. The new hotel he is building is supposed to have windows everywhere so that it isn't like being in 99% of all the other casinos in the world. He bought the old Desert Inn property and is building it there. From past history he will not fail. It is right in the middle of the "Strip". This may be one to watch or buy. The Wynn Las Vegas opens in 2005 I believe. By reading the article below looks like he is building a "mountain!" I can't wait. More... Wynn Las Vegas, a $2.4 billion resort opening in April 2005, will be the latest creation from casino developer Steve Wynn. Wynn, famous for creating other Las Vegas landmarks such as Bellagio, the Mirage and Treasure Island. The hotel will feature a 110,000 square foot casino, an 8-story man made mountain, a 3 acre lake, 18 restaurants, a nightclub, a Ferrari and Maserati dealership, 26 retail outlets, an art gallery, 2 wedding chapels, a large pool complex, an 18 hole championship golf course and a new show from 'O' and 'Mystere' creator Franco Dragone. Included in the room count are over 100 large suites and fairway villas that reach 7,000 square feet in size. Many analysts look for Wynn Las Vegas to revitalize the surrounding area and stimulate a new round of investment in Las Vegas. We will update this page as more information becomes available. This resort was originally to be called 'Le Reve'. The decision to change the name to 'Wynn Las Vegas' was made in June 2003. Linky... The only other thing is an outlet mall downtown but it isn't on Las Vegas Blvd.
I would imagine that that would be the right one. There are a lot of "high end" stores in that one, right?

A shoppers delight come true! That would kill off 2 days of vacation for sure! A must see, along with everything else in Vegas..
These casino stocks are very interesting. I haven't been able to get a great read on their financials but they do generate a ton of cash.
Harry, what ones have you looked at? I bought a little of PPE, Park Place Entertainmet, they own Ceasar's Palace and the Paris Hotel here. I might go for it and buy some of that WYNN though.
Bob, PPE looks pretty good. I have seen them recommended several times. You have a legit shot at price appreciation with any stock under $10. Apparently the profits are flat due to the Atlantic City properties, but other than that it looks like a good buy.
Someone brought this up in another thread: ShuffleMaster. That is a pretty good gambling play because it doesn't count on the revenue from one casino alone. They have had some huge growth numbers for the last 5 years and are on the Forbes 200 Growth Company list. Worth checking out.
This thread is a little bit of a godsend for me, I've recently been looking at MCRI, they own the Atlantis casino. I was wondering if anyone whose actually been to Vegas (or Reno in this case) gambling can tell me what they think of that. But one of the things that I've been thinking is that when the US starts withdrawing from Iraq in large numbers, the gambling industry will probably be going up quite abit. Just due to the entertainment starvation that exists overseas.
I think that analysis is spot on. Returning GIs will be starved for entertainment and Las Vegas, as always will be the premier vacation spot. I think that should bode well for all the truly well run Casino companies.
Keep an eye on [b:1bed6fdd70]WYNN[/b:1bed6fdd70].
Alright someone SHOOT ME! I just looked for the hell of it and WYNN is up to just over $27....it was just about $20 like a month or two ago.

http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2004/Jan-21-Wed-2004/news/23040475.html [b:451afa9feb]The pride and joy of Steve Wynn's newest $2 billion plus megaproject will be an in-the-round domed theater, with 2 1/2 million gallons of water streaming under the audience. An insider described it as "a circle divided into three equal parts." With the back row just 42 feet from the water stage, the 1,800-seat theater at Wynn Las Vegas will put crowds closer to the action than any previous major venue in the entertainment capital of the world, planners are saying. Water will be the dominant theme at the towering chocolate-brown resort that tops out in a few more weeks. That 117-foot high mountain will hide four different lagoons, and I hear talk of stunning waterfalls, including a Little Niagara on the golf course. "Bellagio times 10" is the mantra I hear from Wynn staffers[/b:451afa9feb]
I work at the Fashion show mall in one of the new restaurants called Maggiano's, it faces the new Steve Wynn property going up. Yes, the fashion show mall is awesome and is huge. The restaurant has only been open since Oct 14, 04 and so has some others as Capital Grill, so I haven't really had the time to visit the shops, but there allot to see. On the topic for Steve Wynn's hotel, it 's getting there. It will look fabulous, when it’s done. I've been watching them put in all the trees for the mountain feature. Last night I watched them blow up the last of the Desert Inn, which was awesome to see. I'm just really excited to see Wynn's place being completed. I've never invested into anything and really looking into doing that. First I want to do some research on it, and would love to invest in Wynn's place. I think it will do wonders. Nice to meet you all, Strickland
:welcome
Could have bought this for about $10...now it's at 57.98...all I got to say is OUCH!
