I am a big fan of J's. Same store sales are up, they recently opened a new one. Potential for growth is there, and the stock is trading at a high. On the 10/30/03 I figured I'd drop a couple hundreds in this one to see what happens. I got 50 for 6.30/share, and as of this moment I'm up 1.30/share. We'll see how things go.. :!:

33% gain so far. I think I am going to hold this one for a while. It is at a 52 week high.. If (and when) it gets to 12.50 a share I might be tempted to take it though.. We'll see..
I went to J.Alexander's for dinner last night. Everything was very good. From the couple different locations I've been in, the styling is all pretty similiar. Casual/ Elegant. Ticket price for 2 dinners (no drinks) an appetizer and desserts "to go" came to just under 65.00. I was stuffed, and I could see going back again.. the location of this J's is in the middle of a office complex, so I could see a strong lunch crowd from the hundreds of office workers that work nearby. A salad runs about 7.00. It is also a fitting place to hold a business meeting/ lunch.
They haven't grown much in 10 years. I was checking out their financials and it seems like they have some free cash flow and profit but they must not be opening too many restaurants. I would find out why that is if I was gonna invest more.
Maybe they aren't highly aggressive in growing it out? I can't say I've ever saw them advertise, anywhere. Closed at 8.80 a share today.. Shortie, you're up almost 40%! They don't release a lot of news about this one, so don't know what would be driving the price up?
